About this Project
Chanton was commissioned by Balfour Beatty to carry out a full Topographical & Underground Utility Survey of the site at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, HA7 4LP. Located on the A5 to the North of Stanmore, the site was to undergo demolition of the existing block structure to accommodate the first phase of the redevelopment of the Hospital.
The first phase of the redevelopment would involve the construction of a new state of the art five storey inpatient ward facility, accommodating up to 123 beds and a series of rehabilitation therapy and recreation suites for the specialist Neuro Musculoskeletal Orthopaedic Hospital, based in Stanmore.
Job specification:
- Establish Primary and Secondary Control Network.
- Topographical Survey.
- Underground Utility Survey.
- Engineering Surveying.
- Quality Assurance.
Topographical Survey
The Topographical Survey will include all features within the areas highlighted on the attached No 11 – 016 05 24 – Topo and GPR scope of works Sketch Rev B, to include additional Areas 1 & 2. Features to be shown would include but not be limited to, building outlines, walls, kerbs, footpaths, all changes of surface, services, with manholes and inspection covers shown with cover level only. All buildings would be shown (nearest flank walls only) with levels to ridges and eaves, subject to lines of sight from site and the public highway. The site would be levelled at all points of detail and generally on a 5m grid across the site.
All levels and coordinates would be related to OS Active Network.
Underground Utility Survey
We would carry out a full Ground Penetrating Radar Survey / Scan within the areas highlighted on the attached No 11 – 016 05 24 – Topo and GPR scope of works Sketch Rev B, to include additional Areas 1 & 2.
Underground Utility Survey would be overlaid on Topographical Survey Data. All levels and coordinates would be related to OS Active Network.
Engineering Surveying to include:
- Establish Primary and Secondary Control Network. Establish Gridline’s.
- Establish Datum’s.
- Quality Assurance Checks.
Structural / Movement Monitoring Works to include
Monitoring Capping Beam.
Process and Presentation of Results
The completed survey will be delivered as a digital version in 2D AutoCAD and PDF format.
